M–THEORIE

Inspired by the „M-theorie“, that puts together 2 differnet theories of the universe, which actually don't fit, Michailov is mixing differnet media for his artwork, which he normally would not combine.
The video, inspired by his experinces of his first visit at Karachaevo-Tscherkessien, is shown on a microcosmos of dust accumulated in his atelier and transformed into a hand colored pencil drawing, which is spinning around. The artist shows a dance to Circassian folk music from the bird's eye view so that only a Circassian hat can be seen.
Ironically Michail Michailov is using situational circumstances to explain his own "M-Theory" artistically. The focus should be on the human being and its exhistance. Despite the complexity of the art the subjective point of view and perception is an important factor.
The idea is to create a work that stimulates the spectator to question even his own existence in his "own” universe. Starting from the microcosmos the artist tries to find a solution to explain the macrocosmos, accepting the contradictions within .
In Michailovs creative approach he uses parasitic strategies to acquire the existing and manipulats it.
Similar to the string theory its not sure whether falsifiable experimental predictions can be made or not.
The M-Theory is a theory that is so mysterious that nobody can tell, what the M stands for (see "The fabric of the cosmos" Chapter 13, Brian Greene) and therefore Michail Michailov claims the letter M to stand for himself.
