Intervention in public private space, Graz 2009

The title “Home Cinema” was chosen according to the place of happening: the “Home Cinema” department of the electric store Saturn. Without asking for permission I could secretly play and replay my own video “Private Dancing” (01:45min., loop) which was seen on several large TV screens in the shop for several times that day.
This video broaches the issue of privacy. It tells about clandestine moments at home alone, where one is free to gaze at oneself and to do as one likes. Those are personal moments in which nothing is embarrassing - as long as nobody else watches. The presentation of “Home Cinema” enabled me another clandestine self-observation.
This leads to self-monitoring of private self-monitoring in the public private space.
By conquering the alien place I try to test out my own identity and my current state of mind at the border between controlled self presentation, artistic intervention and apparent exhibitionism.

Wien 2006

Intervention gegen Mechanismen der re-/Produktion von Anerkennung in der Kunst

Video- und Fotodokumentation

Konzept/Aktion: Michail Michailov
Kamera: Hannes Anderle

Statt sich mit Moden, Kritikern und Kuratoren herumzuschlagen, um - vielleicht - einmal ein „Name“ zu werden, stellt man sich einfach selbst neben die anerkannten Größen und wartet was passiert…

Video 06:13min.

Speziellen Dank an Michael Meznik
